I grew up passionate about mathematics and went on to study Applied Mathematics at the National University of Singapore, then spent the next 20+ years teaching Mathematics across O-Levels, A-Levels, and IB in Singapore schools.
For several of those years, I worked as an IB Examiner — marking real student scripts from schools around the world and writing mark schemes. Every year I mark over 100 scripts. What this means in practice: I know in depth exactly what costs students marks. Not guessing, not theory — the real pattern from thousands of scripts reviewed over many years.
I also served as a DP Coordinator — the person responsible for running the entire IB Diploma Programme at the school. This role gave me a view no single subject teacher has: overseeing every student's full Diploma journey, training teachers on IB requirements, managing the examination process end-to-end, and supporting students through the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and CAS. I understand how IB schools evaluate students from every angle.
The difference between a 5, a 6, and a 7 is rarely about ability. It's about structure, clarity, and knowing what an examiner is looking for. Every student deserves that knowledge. I built HAN so it's always there when they need it — patient, free, and trained on everything I've learned over 20 years.
The DP Coordinator runs the IB Diploma Programme at the school. Every IB World School offering the Diploma is required to have one — this is the person who ensures the programme meets IB standards from the first day of Year 1 through to the final exams.
In practice, this means: registering every student for their IB exams, overseeing the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and CAS, keeping the school compliant with IB regulations, supporting teachers on marking requirements and syllabus changes, and advocating for students in special circumstances — illness, learning needs, family emergencies.
Think of the DP Coordinator as the bridge between the school, the students, the teachers, and the IB organisation itself. A good coordinator understands the full picture of what a student needs to complete the Diploma — not just one subject, but everything.
If HAN helps you, a one-time contribution keeps the servers running. Either way, keep using it — that's exactly why it was built.
